Revise: Assembling MethodsA screw thread is a spiral ridge around a cylinder, with a matching groove inside a nut or threaded hole. Turning the parts moves them along the thread. Once a fastener is tightened against the components, it clamps them together.

An internally threaded fastener that fits onto a matching bolt or machine screw.
Distinguish the jobs of components: a bolt and nut secure parts, a washer spreads load, a hinge allows movement and a catch holds a closure shut.
