Say that an induced magnet loses most or all of its magnetism quickly when removed from the magnetic field, rather than claiming that it must lose every trace instantly.
For Earth’s field, link the observation to the conclusion: a compass aligns even without a nearby magnet, so Earth has its own magnetic field, providing evidence that its core is magnetic.
Put arrowheads on magnetic field lines: a pattern without directions is incomplete.

Revise: Magnets, magnetic fields and compassesA permanent magnet retains its magnetism and produces its own magnetic field. Steel can be used to make permanent magnets because it retains magnetism. Permanent magnets are useful in compasses, where a magnetic needle must remain magnetised, and in loudspeakers and electric generators, where a lasting magnetic field is needed.
