Informal worship

Informal worship describes a less formal or more spontaneous style. It often overlaps with non-liturgical worship: ‘non-liturgical’ concerns the absence of a fixed liturgy, while ‘informal’ emphasises the way people participate.

Informal worship has a less fixed order and allows more spontaneous participation. It can include prayers in worshippers’ own words, contemporary songs, Bible teaching and personal testimony: someone describing their experience of faith. It may take place in a church, a home or another meeting space.
