Revise: Malcolm X and Black PowerMalcolm rejected King’s commitment to nonviolence. He argued that African Americans had the right to defend themselves when attacked and should not be expected to accept violence without resistance. His language was militant, but advocating self-defence was not the same as calling for indiscriminate attacks on white people.
