Revise: Developments 1960–62On 15 April 1960, students established the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) at Shaw University in North Carolina, with financial support from Martin Luther King’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Volunteers from CORE helped train protesters to cope with violent confrontations without responding violently.
