A standard shape or form in which a material is commercially supplied, such as sheet, rod, bar or tube.

A standard shape or size of material supplied for manufacture, such as a plank, sheet, rod or roll.
Revise: Primary material sourcesThe resulting stock forms include timber planks, metal sheets, polymer granules and rolls of fabric.
The commercially supplied shape of a material before it is made into a product, such as sheet, rod, roll or granules.
Link each material to its original source, then describe the conversion stages in order. A stock form such as a sheet is not a primary source.
Specify the material type, stock form and dimensions: ‘timber’ alone is less useful than ‘a pine plank of the required length, width and thickness’.
Distinguish the material from its stock form: ‘steel’ names a material; ‘steel sheet’ also identifies the form.
