Revise: The Nervous SystemSensory receptors are specialised cells or nerve endings that detect stimuli. Their structures are suited to detecting particular changes: receptors in the retina of the eye respond to light, whereas pain receptors in the skin respond to potentially damaging stimuli. When a receptor is stimulated, it leads to the production of electrical impulses.
