An individual or group outside a business, such as a customer, supplier or local resident, that affects or is affected by its activities.
Revise: Stakeholder Influence and ImpactExternal stakeholders are outside it: customers, suppliers and the local community, as well as groups such as government and pressure groups. Someone can belong to more than one group: an employee might also own shares and live nearby.

An individual or group outside a business that can affect, or be affected by, its activities, such as customers, suppliers, government or the local community.
Revise: Internal and External StakeholdersExternal stakeholders are outside the business but have a relationship with, or an interest in, its activities. They include customers, suppliers, government and the local community. Being external does not mean being unimportant: a business needs customers to buy its products and suppliers to provide the resources it uses.
Classify stakeholders by their relationship with the business, not by whether they visit its premises. Customers remain external stakeholders.
