Tawrat

The Torah: revelation given by Allah to Musa (Moses).

The revelation given by Allah to Musa, associated with the Torah and containing laws and instructions.

The five named holy books are the Qur’an, Tawrat, Zabur, Injil and Sahifah. Together, they show that guidance did not begin with Muhammad. Earlier prophets also taught people about Allah and how to live.

The Tawrat, associated with the Jewish Torah, was revealed to Musa (Moses). It contained laws to guide his followers. Muslims recognise its original divine authority, while generally believing that the text or its interpretation has been altered over time.

The Tawrat is associated with Allah’s revelation to Musa on Mount Sinai. It includes the Ten Commandments, rules for religious and moral life. The Qur’an describes the Torah as ‘guidance and light’ (Qur’an 5:44).
