Revise: Concept of AtmanBecause the atman does not die with the body, bodily death is not understood as the end of the self. This provides the foundation for belief in reincarnation: the atman continues in another body.

The belief that the soul takes on a new body after the death of its previous body.
Revise: Death and the Afterlife in HinduismReincarnation means that the atman takes on a new body after death. Transmigration is another term for this passage of the soul from one body to another. These terms describe related ideas, but at different scales: reincarnation or transmigration is a rebirth, while samsara is the whole repeating cycle.

Samsara is the cycle of rebirth; reincarnation or transmigration is taking another body; moksha is liberation from that cycle.
