Revise: Birth and Naming CeremoniesA Hukamnama is then taken: a passage is read from the Guru Granth Sahib and received as the Guru’s command or guidance. The granthi proposes a name beginning with the first letter of the hymn, or shabad, read as the Hukam. Once the congregation accepts it, the granthi announces the name.
