Revise: The Imam in Shi'a IslamTwelver Shi’a Muslims recognise twelve Imams. They believe that the twelfth, Muhammad al-Mahdi, succeeded his father while remaining concealed. He is the Hidden Imam, expected to return and establish justice before the Day of Judgement.
Do not describe the Hidden Imam as dead: Twelvers believe that he remains concealed and will return.
Identify the Shi’a tradition you are discussing: Twelver belief in twelve Imams and the Hidden Imam does not describe all Shi’a Muslims.
