The figure produced by a transformation.
Revise: TransformationsThe starting figure is the object; the result is its image.

Revise: Coordinate GeometryA transformation maps every point of an original shape to a corresponding point on its image. On a coordinate grid, the safest general method is to transform each vertex separately and then join the image vertices in the corresponding order.
The shape produced by applying a transformation to the original shape.
The resulting shape after a transformation.
To find the vector from an object to its image, compare one pair of corresponding vertices and calculate image coordinate minus object coordinate.
Check the direction named in the question. The translation from the image back to the object has the opposite signs.
Match corresponding vertices before comparing side lengths or constructing an image.
