The shape and arrangement of the area occupied by an object when viewed from above.

Revise: Plans and ElevationsRecord the object's footprint: its width from left to right and its depth from front to back. Height is flattened and therefore does not appear as a separate measurement in the plan.
When interpreting several views, use them together: the plan fixes the footprint, while the elevations supply heights and side profiles.
