Revise: Migrants to and from BritainLeading Gaelic Irish chiefs and their followers left Ireland, and the government confiscated extensive lands. These were divided mainly among new English and Scottish landowners called undertakers, who undertook to bring settlers onto their estates. They were required to settle ten families or 24 men for every 1,000 acres granted.
