Revise: The Religious SettlementThe Royal Injunctions of 1559 supplied further instructions for putting the settlement into practice. Clergy were required to teach that the queen governed the Church, and preachers needed licences. Pilgrimages and the promotion of supposed or ‘fake’ miracles were banned, restricting practices associated with Catholic worship.
