Revise: Religious Policy and the Impact on Parish ChurchesA parish was a local church community served by a priest. For most people in Tudor England, religious change was experienced here: in the words spoken during services, the objects surrounding them and the work of their clergy. Changes made by the monarch therefore reached into familiar routines and beliefs about salvation.
The local area served by a parish church and its clergy; also the community belonging to that church.
Paper 1

A local area served by a priest who provides worship and religious guidance.
A local community centred on a church, which became the basic unit for organising Elizabethan poor relief.
A local area served by a church and its minister.
Link each policy to a parish consequence, such as the closure of chantries reducing the number of priests available for teaching and pastoral care.
Explain why a religious change mattered to ordinary people: connect a policy to their beliefs, familiar worship or parish community.
Avoid claiming that everyone resisted or everyone welcomed reform. Contrast Devon and Cornwall with the four Suffolk parishes, without treating either as representative of all England.
