Do not treat every Catholic as a rebel or every Puritan as an opponent of Elizabeth herself. Religious disagreement and attempts to replace the monarch were different threats.
Explain the link between belief and action: Puritans regarded pagan customs as ungodly, so they preached against festivals such as May Day.
