Revise: Jahangir and Nur JahanIn 1611, Jahangir married Mehr-un-Nisa, the widow of a Mughal officer. She became his chief queen and received the title Nur Jahan, meaning ‘Light of the World’. Her importance went far beyond her position as his wife: Jahangir relied on her advice, and she became involved in decisions about government and military appointments.
