Revise: Leadership, Response and Government PropagandaThe Dig for Victory campaign encouraged people to grow more food during wartime shortages and rationing. Britain imported a great deal of its food, and German U-boat attacks on merchant shipping threatened these supplies. Growing vegetables at home helped supplement food supplies and reduce dependence on imports.
Link each response to its purpose: royal visits offered reassurance, the Cabinet War Rooms helped government continue working, and Dig for Victory increased food production.
