Revise: Women’s RightsIn 1907, Teresa Billington-Greig and Charlotte Despard helped establish the Women’s Freedom League (WFL) as a breakaway organisation. It favoured a democratic structure and opposed attacks on people or property, but used civil disobedience, including refusing to pay taxes or provide census information. The campaign therefore offered more than a simple choice between persuasion and violence.
