Regional inequality means differences between areas within a country. Economic inequality concerns income, jobs and investment. Social inequality concerns people's living conditions and access to services such as schools and healthcare.
When evaluating regional inequality, ask who benefits and where. Growth in a region does not automatically mean that its poorest communities benefit or that the gap with wealthier regions narrows.
