When comparing maps or GIS layers, check their dates, coverage and level of detail.
When interpreting GIS, use the key and time period before describing the pattern. A mapped concentration of forest loss does not, by itself, prove its cause.
Check the GIS legend and timestamps. Observed positions are evidence of past movement; forecast positions are predictions.
