Revise: Ecosystem Distributions and CharacteristicsThe shallow-water coral reefs studied here occur mainly in tropical and subtropical seas, with most reef-building stony corals found between about 35° north and 35° south. Many reefs lie between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Important concentrations occur around South-East Asia, including Indonesia, and off north-east Australia, where the Great Barrier Reef lies.
