GCSE Geography · key term
The geographical pattern of where something is found.
Used by AQA, Edexcel and OCR
Specification 3.1.2.1 · Paper 1, Paper 2, Paper 3
The way a feature is spread across an area, including its concentrations, gaps and exceptions.
Specification 6.2 · Paper 2
For distribution, describe a pattern using latitude and named regions rather than simply listing countries.
Biome boundaries are approximate: latitude is important, but altitude, distance from the sea and relief also affect distribution.
For a distribution question, state the overall pattern, locate concentrations and gaps, then identify any exceptions. Use compass directions and map evidence.

Natural resources are parts of the environment that people can use to meet their needs. They include soils for growing crops, forests, fossil fuels, freshwater, rocks and minerals. Their distribution is uneven: different places have different resources and quantities available.
