Paper 2
Revise: Postcard from a Travel SnobThe final two lines complete this pattern of denial and self-promotion: “I’m not a British tourist in the sea; / I am an anthropologist in trunks.” (lines 15–16). An anthropologist studies human societies and cultures. The grand professional title gives an ordinary swim an intellectual purpose, while the everyday “trunks” brings that claim back down to beachwear.
