Definition

The ability of a material to resist damage caused by rubbing against another surface.

Useful characteristics include flexibility, wear resistance and resistance to loads. Polyurethane wheels make use of its resistance to wear and loading, while furniture foam provides a flexible material for cushioning. Liquid polyurethane can also be used as a varnish.
