Revise: Fabricating and ConstructingRiveting is a mechanical joining method: the rivet is deformed to hold the parts together. It is useful for overlapping sheets or plates and does not require them to be heated. Unlike a screw fastening, a rivet cannot simply be undone for maintenance.

A fastener permanently deformed after insertion through aligned holes to hold parts together.
When selecting a process, explain how it is carried out and link its advantage to the product: for example, a pop rivet joins thin overlapping sheets with access needed only from the front side.
A riveted joint is normally permanent: removing it requires destroying or drilling out the rivet, unlike undoing a nut and bolt.
Permanent does not mean impossible to remove: a rivet can be drilled out, but the rivet is destroyed.

A rivet joins parts by being permanently deformed. It is especially useful for overlapping sheets, including steel and aluminium. The rivet passes through aligned holes, then its end is enlarged so the sheets are held between two retaining ends.
