Revise: Thermosetting PolymersPolyester resin (PR) is a thermosetting material supplied as a resin with a separate hardener. Mixing them starts the curing process. The mixture can take the shape of a mould before it sets permanently.
A thermosetting resin used as the matrix in composites reinforced with glass or carbon fibres.
For a kayak, identify polyester resin reinforced with glass fibres, rather than suggesting that the hull is made from unreinforced resin alone.
For a fibre-reinforced composite, identify both parts: the polyester resin binds the material together, while the glass or carbon fibres provide reinforcement.
