Revise: Cutting and Shaping ProcessesA hollow-chisel mortiser makes the recess more quickly by combining two cutting actions: a rotating auger removes most of the waste, while a fixed hollow square chisel surrounding it cuts the corners and straight walls. Several adjacent plunge cuts form an elongated mortise.
