Complete the explanation by stating that each sample value is represented in binary and stored. Saying only that the sound is ‘converted to digital’ does not explain the process.
Explain the mechanism as well as the outcome: a higher sample rate means more samples per second; a higher bit depth means more bits per sample.
Sample rate is measured in Hz, bit depth in bits per sample, and duration in seconds. A size calculated in bits must be divided by 8 to convert it to bytes.
