The number of bits available to store the value of each sound sample.
Explain the mechanism as well as the outcome: a higher sample rate means more samples per second; a higher bit depth means more bits per sample.
Sample rate is measured in Hz, bit depth in bits per sample, and duration in seconds. A size calculated in bits must be divided by 8 to convert it to bytes.
