Revise: Mitosis, the Cell Cycle and CancerThe cell cycle is the sequence of events through which a cell grows and divides. It includes interphase, mitosis and cytokinesis. Mitosis is specifically the division of the nucleus; cytokinesis separates the cell into two.
Describe the three overall stages of the cell cycle. AQA does not require the names of the individual phases of mitosis.
Give the stages in order: interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, then cytokinesis. Interphase and cytokinesis are parts of the cell cycle, not stages of nuclear division.
