Revise: Training and DevelopmentTraining can improve motivation because employees feel valued when the business invests in them. Greater competence can also build confidence and make work more satisfying. Opportunities to develop may encourage employees to stay, improving retention.

Revise: Financial Motivation MethodsMotivation is the desire or willingness that drives someone to act towards a goal. In a business, motivated employees are more likely to put effort into their work, produce good-quality output and remain with their employer.

Explain why training may improve motivation and retention; do not assume that every trained employee will stay.
When judging a method, weigh its likely benefits against its costs and suitability. Higher motivation does not automatically mean higher profit.
Fringe benefits count as financial motivation because they have monetary value, even though they are not paid directly as wages.
