Compare proportions rather than just frequencies when the data sets have different totals.
In a Venn diagram, a set total includes the overlap. Fill the overlap first, then calculate the ‘only’ regions.
Include clear labels and a key where needed. A Venn diagram also needs a rectangle representing the whole data set.
