Gender and criminality

Gender and criminality includes differences in offending, opportunities, socialisation and responses by the authorities. Official statistics suggest that women are less likely than men to offend and reoffend. Gender roles are socially learned expectations; they should not be treated as proof that all women or all men behave alike.
