Revise: Education key termsIn 1965, the Labour government asked local education authorities to reorganise secondary education along comprehensive lines. Instead of separating pupils into different school types through the eleven plus, comprehensive schools were intended to educate children of different abilities together. Grammar schools nevertheless remained in some areas.
