Paper 1
Revise: Significance of PrayerA set prayer has established words that believers repeat. Set prayers are also called formal prayers. They can be spoken together in church or used by an individual at home.
Paper 2
A prayer with established words that can be read, memorised or recited together.
Revise: Forms of WorshipLiturgical and informal describe how worship is organised, whereas individual describes worshipping alone. These categories can overlap: someone praying privately might use either a traditional set prayer or their own words.
Set prayer does not mean public prayer, and informal prayer does not mean private prayer. Either can be used alone or with others.
Link each practice to its significance: for example, shared set prayers can express unity, while Quaker silence allows worshippers to listen for guidance.
Distinguish the order of a service from the wording of a prayer: individual worship can include set prayers, and group worship can include informal prayers.
