Revise: FestivalsGuru Arjan, the fifth Guru, was the first Sikh martyr. He was killed at Lahore in 1606, under the Mughal emperor Jahangir. Sikh tradition remembers his refusal to convert to Islam and his torture, including being made to sit on a hot iron plate.
