Revise: Christianity, Non-Religion, and the AfterlifeA funeral brings people together to honour someone who has died and support one another in grief. Christian funerals also place death within belief in resurrection and eternal life. They commonly include a service with prayers, Bible readings and hymns, followed by a committal at a grave or crematorium.
Link each funeral practice to a belief: for example, a Paschal candle represents Christ’s resurrection and therefore hope of life after death.
When comparing funerals, explain differences in meaning as well as differences in what happens.
