Revise: Sources of Authority on the TrinityThe creed’s description of the Son as ‘consubstantial with the Father’ expresses this shared divine nature. The Son is not a lesser god or a created being.

The Creed at Constantinople said that the Spirit proceeds from the Father. The wording 'and the Son' was a later addition in the Latin tradition.

Its Creed described the Spirit as “the Lord and giver of life”, who “proceeds from the Father” and who, with the Father and Son, “is worshipped and glorified”. Worshipping the Spirit alongside the Father and Son expresses the belief that the Spirit is fully divine, not merely an impersonal force.
