Revise: Relationships in JudaismIf a husband refuses to give a get, his wife may remain an agunah, unable to remarry under Orthodox Jewish law. This illustrates how the religious divorce procedure can have serious consequences for someone's future. Remarriage is generally permitted following a valid divorce, although restrictions remain: for example, a man with priestly status, a kohen, may not marry a divorced woman under Orthodox law.
