A trial in which the researcher creates the condition being investigated. In Asch’s study, the confederates unanimously gave an incorrect answer.

Revise: ConformityThere were 18 trials, including 12 critical trials. The confederates initially gave correct answers, but on critical trials they all gave the same wrong answer. The researcher could then observe whether the genuine participant also gave that wrong answer.
Keep the results distinct: 36.8% refers to responses on critical trials; 75% refers to participants who conformed at least once.
