Paper 2

Expertise means specialist knowledge or skill. An expert usually has greater confidence in their judgement within their area of expertise, so is less likely to accept an incorrect majority answer. A biology teacher, for example, may resist an incorrect answer about biology even when several non-specialists agree with it.
Revise: Conformity
Specialist knowledge, skills or training that can enable someone to help effectively.
Revise: Prosocial Behaviour

Exam tips

1
Describe personality and expertise as influences on conformity, not guarantees of how someone will behave.
2
Keep social factors, such as the presence of others and costs of helping, distinct from dispositional factors, such as similarity and expertise.
