Allocation to conditions

One application is random allocation to conditions. If different participants complete the music and silence conditions, the researcher could draw their names from a hat without looking, assigning names to the two groups in turn. Each participant’s condition is decided by chance rather than by the researcher choosing who seems likely to remember well.
