Revise: Controlling Variables and SamplingA range of values is more useful than testing only two extremes. As an illustrative plan, you might test pendulum lengths of 0.20, 0.40, 0.60, 0.80 and 1.00 m. The values cover a substantial span, with intermediate points that could show whether swing time changes steadily or follows another pattern.
Justify a proposed number of readings or range of values in terms of variation, the expected effect and what is practical. There is no fixed number suitable for every investigation.
