Specification 4.2.5.1 · Paper 1
Specification 11.2P · Paper 2
An overall charge caused by an object having fewer electrons than protons.
Revise: Electron TransferIn a solid, the positive charge is held in atomic nuclei. These nuclei do not transfer from one material to another during ordinary electrostatic charging. Electrons are the particles that move.
State that electrons are transferred; do not say that positive charge or protons move between the materials.
When explaining charge, link gaining electrons to negative charge and losing electrons to positive charge.
Do not say that positive charges move between the materials or that rubbing creates charge.
