Revise: Electricity GenerationA coolant flows through the hot reactor core and carries thermal energy away. In a common arrangement, it transfers this energy to a separate supply of water in a steam generator or boiler. Keeping the two flows separate reduces the risk of radioactive material from the reactor reaching the steam circuit.
