Revise: Prohibited substancesA prohibited substance is a substance that sporting rules forbid a performer from using. Some are known as performance-enhancing drugs because performers use them to gain an advantage, such as greater strength or reduced tiredness. Others may help a performer enter a particular weight category or conceal the use of another drug.
