Revise: Benefits for the cardio-respiratory systemThe cardio-respiratory system combines the heart, blood vessels and lungs. The lungs transfer oxygen into the blood, the heart pumps that blood, and blood vessels carry it to working muscles. Oxygen allows muscles to release energy aerobically; carbon dioxide produced by the muscles is carried back to the lungs and breathed out.
